Mike started his career working in the field as a carpenter and worked his way into a Superintendent, and then into project management with his most recently held position as President of Operations. His field experience gives him a thorough knowledge of construction techniques as well as the challenges that can be involved. Over the past 30 years in construction he has estimated/managed multimillion dollar hospital additions, remodels, as well as schools, churches, medical office buildings and retirement facilities. He has experience in many different management delivery modules with a focus on negotiated projects.

My duties for my latest title of Vice President of Operations were as follows:
Provides day-to-day leadership and guidance to the Superintendent, assisting them in planning, implementing and coordinating project work.
Expected Outcomes:
- Projects are safely constructed according to specifications and contract requirements, at a profit
- Clients are satisfied with project results
- Division personnel are well-trained, and have high morale
Position responsibilities:
- Monitors job cost, schedule and quality of work
- Assigns personnel to field projects
- Works with the Safety Committee to ensure all high risk operations are safely planned and monitored during execution
- Works with the Superintendents to allocate equipment resources and to resolve issues over usage
- Ensures that field personnel have the information, equipment, materials and manpower to effectively build projects: resolves disputes over resources
- Coordinates the flow of information between field and office personnel, ensures teamwork and resolves issues
- Ensures company policies and understood and implemented consistently
- Develops and continually improves the effectiveness of the procedures
- Performance evaluations of the field staff
- Mentors Superintendents
- Motivates field personnel to perform at optimum levels
- Builds customer relationships and an industry network
- Provides advice and direction to personnel toward their professional development
- Communicates and reinforces the company values and goals
Made recommendations to President on upcoming projects to bid and or pursue as well as analyzed bids to ensure accuracy.

The role that I held for Bouten construction during the last few years was to open a satellite Office from its conception. Created a business plan and developed the business in the Tri- City area.
